I’ve always liked this abandonded cave cooperative building which, until recently, was overgrown and ramshakle. Now they have cleared the site and it looks very much like they are planning to demolish it. Wouldn’t it be great if it was renovated and turned into a cultural centre, wine museum, cinema or theatre – sadly there is no chance of that happening so l’m grateful of the opportunity to preserve it with these few pictures.
This beautiful old building is currently on the market for a little under €150000 and in need of a lot of tender loving care. It would take an awful lot of money and imagination to bring it back to its splendid best. The village of Moncaret sits on the Northen banks of the Dordogne River close to Montravel and its glorious vineyards.
