Interesting old buildings No.1

The Abattoir Public (Public slaughterhouse) was built in 1822 alongside the Canal-Lateral-a-la-Garonne in the market town of Valence D’Agen, Tarn-et-Garonne. It is now used as a rest stop for walkers and camping cars and has ‘Monument Historique’ status.

Rain, rain go away…………..

It has been raining for the best part of a week without any let up – Our village, Castets en Dorthe, is where the magnificent Canal Lateral starts and sits alongside the powerful river Garonne. These pictures are of the first lock where they join and today, as you can see, the river and the canal have merged. There is more rain on the way and it’s possible the floods could be as bad as they were a few years ago – Let’s hope not. I have included a picture for comparison.
