This is a vignerons tractor specially made to drive between and above the lines of vines. Next time I’m passing l will try and get the manufacturers name – not sure about the age but your 1940s cannot be far off.
Mr. Dan– Love that photo. At first I thought it was a homemade tractor, but it appears that the engine has been stripped out. You posted another photo of what seems to be the same tractor, pre-cannibalisation. Any idea what manufacturer, year & model? Looks 1940s vintage.
